Feb. 27, we honored the generous partners, donors and volunteers (1,000 of them!) who make it possible for West Suburban PADS to give hope and refuge to those who are homeless in our community. Our 12th annual Have-a-Heart Gala at the Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook brought together more than 300 supporters to celebrate West Suburban PADS' momentum and achievements of 2009.

In June, we opened the first off-season shelter in our area. In October, we launched a rapid re-housing program to quickly move shelter guests into apartments. In November, we enrolled the inaugural class of our employment readiness program, and we opened an expanded support center in Maywood.

We are grateful for the benevolence of the following, who ensure the sustenance of this momentum.

West Suburban PADS' "partners in momentum" - Francis Labayen (housing partner), Baird & Warner Oak Park (community partner) and Career Advancement Network (employment partner).

Have-a-Heart 2010 sponsors: Van Kampen Investments (champion); Unity Temple Unitarian Universalist Congregation and St. Edmund Catholic Parish (trailblazers); Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest (partner); Access Community Health Network, OakPark Apartments.com, Paul and Mary Binder, Village of Maywood and Zoller and Swanson & Company (advocates).

Thank you to all who open their hearts to our mission.
